Industrial limit switch for position sensing

The Square D miniature limit switch uses a roller plunger actuator to detect mechanical position in industrial equipment. Its SPDT contact form provides a single-pole double-throw switching action suitable for control circuits. The switch carries NEMA ratings 1, 2, 4, 6, 6P, 12 and 13 for protection against dust, water and oil ingress. It is built for new installations requiring a compact, top-actuated limit device.

Sustained contact performance at rated loads

Under continuous operation the switch maintains its 6 A rating at both 240 V AC and 28 V DC without derating for duty cycle. The roller plunger reduces sliding friction on the actuator, helping contact resistance stay stable over repeated cycles. NEMA 4, 6 and 6P enclosure ratings mean the contact block remains sealed during prolonged exposure to wash-down or temporary submersion. This makes the switch reliable for machines that run multiple shifts without pause.

Thermal and power characteristics in normal use

The miniature body measuring 1.75 in high by 1.58 in wide by 0.62 in deep dissipates heat through its metal housing during normal switching. No boot seal is fitted, so the actuator area stays open to ambient air for natural convection. Power draw is limited to the control circuit load, with the switch itself adding negligible resistance. The orange finish aids visual identification in panels where multiple devices are mounted close together.
