The Sonifex RB-UL2 is a 1U rack-mountable dual stereo converter that transforms unbalanced signals into balanced outputs for studio and live sound environments. It connects domestic or semi-professional sources to professional audio systems with four RCA phono inputs and four XLR 3 pin male outputs. Audio engineers and installers use it to integrate consumer equipment into balanced signal chains without quality loss. The unit provides a clean conversion path for stereo pairs across two independent channels.

Signal Integrity Performance

Frequency response extends from 20Hz to 20kHz with a tolerance of .1dB across the audible spectrum. Total harmonic distortion measures .01% at 1kHz referenced to a +8dBu output level. Each XLR output presents an impedance below 50Ohms, enabling long cable runs without signal degradation. Balanced output gain is adjustable from -15dBu to +15dBu, allowing precise level matching for varying source material.

Installation Flexibility

The 10kOhms input impedance on each RCA connector accommodates a wide range of unbalanced source devices including media players and computer interfaces. Four discrete input-to-output paths handle two stereo pairs simultaneously without crosstalk or summing. Male XLR connectors on the output side plug directly into standard professional patch bays, mixer inputs, or processor inputs.
