M.2 2242 B+M Key SATA Adapter

This compact adapter converts a single M.2 2242 B+M Key slot into two independent SATA 3.0 ports for 2.5-inch SSDs, HDDs or optical drives. It is built for mini ITX motherboards, small form factor PCs and DIY NAS units where PCIe slots are scarce. The JMicron JMB582 controller provides a direct PCIe-to-SATA bridge without occupying a full expansion bracket. Installation is internal and hidden, keeping chassis wiring tidy.

Upgrade from limited onboard SATA ports

The card adds two 6Gbps channels when the motherboard has no free SATA headers or when a PCIe slot cannot be spared. It is worth the jump for builders expanding a NAS array, adding bulk storage to an embedded system or populating a mini PC drive bay. AHCI, NCQ and hot-swap support keep multiple drives responsive under sustained 24-hour workloads such as disk arrays or video recording. The adapter requires a spare M.2 2242 slot wired for PCIe signalling.

Verify the motherboard offers an M.2 2242 B+M Key socket that exposes PCIe lanes; some M.2 sockets carry only SATA or are keyed for 2280 modules.
