Four DB9 RS232 ports for industrial PCs

This PCIe expansion card adds four independent DB9 serial ports to a computer that lacks native COM interfaces. It targets engineers and system integrators connecting PLCs, POS terminals or legacy sensing equipment. The x1 edge connector fits any PCIe x1, x4, x8 or x16 slot on mainstream motherboards. PCIe x1 bandwidth limits aggregate throughput

All four ports share a single PCIe 1-lane link, so total bandwidth is capped at the lane's maximum rate. Heavy simultaneous traffic on multiple ports can saturate the bus and increase latency. Cable length and signal quality also follow the RS-232 electrical specification, restricting reliable runs to the standard distance. No on-board buffering beyond the controller's FIFO is provided.

Verify slot clearance and OS driver availability

Confirm the motherboard has a free PCIe slot with enough physical space for the bracket and DB9 connectors. Check that the target operating system includes or can load the appropriate serial driver for the controller chip. Ensure the connected devices use standard RS-232 voltage levels and pin-outs matching the DB9 layout. Power is drawn from the slot; no external supply is required.
