This detector head is designed as a direct replacement for Simplex addressable fire alarm panels. It monitors ambient temperature and detects a rapid rate-of-rise to signal a potential fire event. The unit is intended for commercial or institutional buildings that use compatible Simplex control equipment. It is not suitable for stand-alone operation or for panels that do not support the Simplex addressable protocol.

900 square feet coverage and detection limits

The sensor provides up to 900 square feet (84 square metres) of coverage per device when installed according to applicable spacing guidelines. It responds to fixed-temperature thresholds and to the speed at which the temperature climbs. The head will not detect smoke, combustion gases or flame, so it cannot replace a smoke detector where codes require smoke detection. Installers must verify that the panel’s zone capacity and loop length can accommodate the additional address.

Addressable panel integration

Because the device communicates over the Simplex addressable loop, each head reports its individual status and alarm state to the panel without extra wiring. This allows the control panel to pinpoint the exact detector in alarm and to report maintenance faults such as a dirty sensor or wiring fault. No separate siren, relay module or conventional zone circuit is included in the package; the head relies entirely on the host panel for notification and power supervision.
