The Safe-T-Seal TTMP-4WF is a rubber test plug designed for pipe interiors from 0.38 in up to 4 in. It suits plumbers and maintenance crews who need to isolate a 4-inch line for pressure testing or temporary blockage. The galvanised-steel handle and plate resist corrosion during repeated use. A 1/2 in female NPS bypass connection allows air or water monitoring while the line is sealed.

Pressure limits of the bypass valve

The plug withstands 45 psig of air back-pressure and 80 ft of head for water. Exceeding either limit can unseat the seal or damage the valve, so the test medium and pressure must stay within these ratings. California Proposition 65 warns that the product contains a chemical known to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm. The restriction list is currently empty, but the warning applies wherever the plug is sold or used.

Simple hand installation with common errors

Tighten the wing nut by hand until the rubber expands firmly against the pipe wall; no tools are required. The 4.5 in overall height fits most access points. Common mistakes are under-tightening, which lets the plug blow out under pressure, and skipping the pressure-relief step before removal, which can eject the plug violently. Always verify the bypass valve is closed before pressurising the line.
