The Rycote Ristretto is a compact windjammer designed to fit over standard lavalier microphone foams. It targets broadcasters, filmmakers and presenters who need effective wind protection while keeping the microphone visually discreet on camera. Its reduced profile makes it suitable for interviews, presentations and broadcast work where a traditional bulky windjammer would be obtrusive.

Fur Design and Secure Fit

The windjammer uses considerably shorter fur than Rycote's standard Lavalier Windjammer, lowering its on-camera visibility without sacrificing noise reduction. It mounts quickly onto a variety of lavalier foams from brands such as DPA, Sennheiser, Shure and Sony, providing a snug, reliable attachment that stays in place during active use. This construction minimises wind noise and plosives in challenging outdoor or indoor environments.

Upgrade from Bare Foam or Bulky Windjammers

This accessory replaces recording with only a foam cover, which offers limited outdoor wind protection, or a full-size windjammer that compromises discretion. The jump is worth it when you record interviews or dialogue outdoors and need professional-grade audio clarity but cannot tolerate a large, visible windshield on the talent. It is not for users who require wind protection for larger diaphragm or shotgun microphones.
