Upgrade from Basic Straight-Blade Peelers

Standard peelers only remove a flat skin; this model adds a julienne blade that turns carrots, cucumbers or zucchini into ready-to-cook ribbons in one motion. The jump is worth it when a recipe calls for matchstick vegetables, vegetable noodles or garnish strips and you want to avoid a mandoline or food-processor setup. It replaces the extra step of hand-slicing julienne cuts.

Limits of a Hand-Held Julienne Blade

The fixed blade width produces a single strip size, so dishes requiring multiple thicknesses will still need a mandoline or knife work. Hard, dense roots such as sweet potato demand more force and can fatigue the hand during large batches. The 3" L x .96" H x 4.75" W footprint limits knuckle clearance on very wide produce, and the cover must be removed before each use.
