Purpose and Fit

The Profoto Frosted Glass Plate is an accessory built exclusively for the Profoto D1 Monolight. It serves photographers and videographers who need to soften the unit's direct output without adding separate softboxes or umbrellas. The three integrated clips attach directly to the monolight head, requiring no extra holders or tools. It is not a standalone diffuser for other strobe brands or continuous lights.

Light Control and Limits

The plate reduces and evens out the D1's output, cutting harsh shadows and producing a more balanced quality suited to portrait and product work. It maintains consistent colour temperature across the frame, avoiding the shifts that cheaper diffusion materials can introduce. Because it simply covers the flash tube, it cannot shape light direction or provide the deep wraparound of a large modifier; output drops slightly, so very high-power or long-distance shots may need compensation.

Attachment Method

The defining specification is the three built-in clips that lock the glass plate onto the D1 Monolight's reflector housing. This proprietary mounting means the accessory only fits that specific head design and cannot be adapted to other Profoto heads or third‑party units without modification.
