The Pintech PT-710 measures AC and DC currents from 0.05 A to 100 A using a standard BNC connector. It suits engineers and technicians who need to view current waveforms on any oscilloscope. The probe operates on Faraday’s principle, detecting the magnetic field around a conductor without breaking the circuit. It is not for users who require bandwidth beyond 100 kHz or currents outside the stated range.

Sustained-load behaviour and accuracy

Accuracy is specified as ±2% plus 5 mV across the 100 kHz bandwidth. An overload indicator lights red when the measured current exceeds the selected range, prompting a range change before the probe saturates. A battery-level LED shows green above 6.5 V and flashes green when replacement is needed, preventing measurement drift during long sessions. Zero adjustment is required for each DC range change but not for pure AC measurements.

Installation notes and common issues

The clamp opens to fit conductors up to the jaw size implied by the 232 × 33 × 66 mm body, and the BNC plug connects directly to the oscilloscope. For multimeter use the optional MT-246N adapter is required. The main installation errors are forgetting DC zero adjustment after a range switch and overlooking a flashing battery LED, both of which cause offset errors. Ensure the jaws close fully around a single conductor for correct readings.
