Compact clearance chains

Super Z6 tire chains SZ127 are cable-type traction devices built for vehicles with very tight wheel-well clearances. They fit a wide range of tire sizes from 14 to 17 inch diameters, covering many compact cars and light commercial fitments. The design targets drivers who need reliable winter grip but cannot accommodate bulky conventional chains. Installation is completed without moving the vehicle.

No-move fitting and Class S clearance

The chains operate in less than half the space required by most cable or link chains and exceed SAE Class S clearance requirements. A ratcheting tension system lets the driver secure the chains from the outside of the wheel, removing the need to roll the vehicle forward or backward. This makes roadside fitting practical on narrow shoulders or in crowded parking areas. The low-profile cables reduce the risk of contact with brake lines, suspension components or inner wheel arches.

Upgrade from conventional cables or chains

These replace standard ladder-style chains or basic cables that demand more radial clearance and often require the vehicle to be moved during tensioning. The jump is worth it when the owner’s manual specifies Class S devices or when previous chains rubbed on struts, fenders or ABS wiring. They are not suited for deep unploughed snow where aggressive link chains dig deeper, nor for vehicles with tire sizes outside the listed fitment range.
