Rackmount firewall with six Intel Gigabit ports

The Partaker R9 is a 19-inch 1U appliance built around an Intel Core i3-3220 processor on a B75 chipset. It ships with 4 GB of DDR3 memory and a 128 GB mSATA SSD, plus a second drive bay for a 2.5 or 3.5-inch drive. Six RJ-45 ports driven by Intel 82574L, 82583V or I211 controllers deliver wire-speed throughput of 1000 Mbps. The unit includes VGA, two USB ports, a console connector and one LAN bypass pair.

Upgrade from software firewalls

This appliance replaces a general-purpose PC running pfSense, OPNsense or Untangle when you need dedicated Intel NICs, a compact rack form factor and silent ball-bearing cooling. The jump is worth it if your current host lacks AES-NI acceleration, runs hot in a closed cabinet or cannot fit six physical LAN interfaces. The 150 W internal supply supports the board and both drive bays without an external brick.

The chassis measures 430 x 270 x 50 mm and weighs 6.5 kg, so verify your cabinet depth and mounting ears. Memory uses two SODIMM DDR3 slots at 1333 or 1600 MHz, expandable to 32 GB if you plan heavier logging or proxy workloads. The board has no AES-NI support, so confirm your chosen firewall distribution still runs acceptably without hardware crypto offload.
