Stainless Steel Cable Tie for Harsh Environments

This Panduit MLT4S-CP316 cable tie is built from 316 stainless steel for use in extreme conditions. It withstands temperatures from -76 to 1000 degrees Fahrenheit and resists UV light, radiation, weather and flame. The ball-lock mechanism secures bundles up to 4 inches in diameter with a tensile strength of 200 lb. It suits industrial, marine and outdoor installations where plastic ties would degrade.

Ball Lock and Metal Detectable Design

The ball-lock style provides a secure, vibration-resistant hold without the pawl wear common on nylon ties. A thickness of .01 in and width of .18 in give a low profile that fits tight conduit routes. Because the strap is fully metallic, it is metal detectable for safety compliance in food or pharmaceutical processing lines. The single-strap construction eliminates loose tails that could snag.

Limits of the UL Type 2 Rating

This tie carries a UL Type 2 listing, which covers mechanical strength and flammability but not plenum-rated air-handling spaces. The maximum bundle diameter is 4 in, so larger cable trunks require multiple ties or a different fastening method. At an actual length of 14.3 in, the strap cannot wrap around oversized ducts or structural members. Installers needing plenum approval must select a separately rated product.
