The Panasonic H-FS45150AK is a compact zoom lens built for the Micro Four Thirds mount. It covers a 45-150 mm focal range, equivalent to 90-300 mm on a 35 mm camera, making it suited to photographers who want telephoto flexibility without a large telephoto prime. The lens weighs little and retracts to a short length, so it fits easily in a small bag for travel or everyday carry.

Variable Aperture and Stabilisation Headroom

The maximum aperture shifts from f/4.0 at 45 mm to f/5.6 at 150 mm and stops down to f/22, giving enough depth-of-field control for typical daylight and indoor scenes. In lower light the built-in MEGA Optical Image Stabilisation compensates for hand shake, letting you shoot at slower shutter speeds than an unstabilised lens would allow. At the long end the 0.35x magnification falls short of true macro work, so very small subjects cannot be filled the frame.

Build Integration and Handling

A 52 mm filter thread accepts common circular polarisers and neutral-density filters without step-up rings. The inner-focus design keeps the front element stationary and the lens length constant during focusing, which helps when using petal hoods or polarisers. A stepping motor drives focus nearly silently, an advantage for video recording where microphone pickup is a concern. The optical formula uses 12 elements in 9 groups including one ultra-high refractive index and two aspherical lenses to correct aberrations across the zoom range.
