Solid Router Bit for Soft Plastics

The Onsrud 63-750 is a carbide upcut O-flute router bit with a 1/16 inch cutter diameter and a 1/4 inch shank. It is designed for CNC routing of soft plastic materials where a clean upward chip evacuation is required. The solid carbide construction provides the rigidity needed for small-diameter profiling and slotting operations in sign-making and fabrication shops.

Shank Compatibility and Chip Evacuation

The 1/4 inch shank fits standard collets and tool holders found on most benchtop and industrial CNC routers. The upcut spiral geometry pulls chips upward and away from the cut, reducing the chance of re-cutting melted plastic and freeing the operator from frequent manual clearing. This geometry also helps prevent the bit from pulling loose in the collet during deep passes.

Sustained Cutting in Soft Plastic

Under continuous load the carbide cutting edges maintain their sharpness longer than high-speed steel alternatives, allowing extended run times without dimensional drift. The O-flute design reduces friction and heat buildup in soft plastics, minimising the risk of welding or burring during long production runs. The tool is not suited for hard plastics, metals or abrasive composites where a different flute geometry would be required.
