Controllers for Nintendo Switch

This set includes a left and right Joy-Con pair in neon red and neon blue for the Nintendo Switch console. Each unit works as a standalone controller with its own buttons, analogue stick, accelerometer and gyro sensor. They can be used separately in each hand, attached to the console for handheld play, or combined with a separate Joy-Con grip to form a single gamepad. The right Joy-Con adds built-in NFC support for amiibo figures sold separately.

Wireless pairing and battery limits

The controllers connect to the console wirelessly and must be paired before use. Each Joy-Con relies on its internal rechargeable battery, so play time is limited by the charge level of each half. When used apart from the console they cannot draw power from it, meaning both units need regular charging sessions. The NFC reader on the right controller only functions when the console software supports amiibo features in the active game.

Slide-rail attachment and daily handling

Each Joy-Con locks onto the console or a grip using a sliding rail that clicks into place, and a small release button on the back disengages it. The rails are the only mechanical connection, so repeated attachment and removal will determine long-term fit. Buttons, sticks and the vibration module are built into the compact shell, making the pair easy to carry but leaving no room for user-serviceable parts. The neon finish shows fingerprints and scuffs more readily than darker colours.
