The Nineplus N12 is a USB Wi-Fi adapter that adds dual-band wireless connectivity to desktop and laptop computers running Windows 11, 10 or 7. It is aimed at users whose internal Wi-Fi has failed or who need faster speeds than older built-in hardware provides. The compact black dongle measures 2.6 in by 0.82 in by 0.39 in and weighs 0.041 kg. It ships with two detachable 5 dBi antennas, a driver CD and a printed manual.

AC1300 Dual-Band Throughput Limits

The adapter follows the IEEE 802.11ac standard with a nominal 1300 Mbps aggregate rate split between two bands. On the 5.8 GHz band the maximum link speed reaches 867 Mbps, while the 2.4 GHz band tops out at 400 Mbps. Real-world throughput will be lower due to overhead, distance, interference and the capabilities of the host router. The device does not support MacOS, Chromebook or Linux operating systems.

Plug-In Installation With Driver Step

Installation requires plugging the adapter into a free USB port and running the driver software from the included CD or a downloaded package before the antennas are attached. A common issue is forgetting to install the driver first, which leaves the device unrecognised by Windows. The adjustable antennas should be positioned vertically for best signal; placing the dongle behind a metal case or near large appliances can degrade range.
