It maintains metering, autofocus, and Vibration Reduction so the camera body continues to operate as if the lens were mounted directly. Photographers using the 70-200mm f/2.8, 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6, 400mm f/2.8, or 800mm f/6.3 S-line lenses gain extra reach without changing glass.

One aspherical element and Super Integrated Coating work together to control aberrations and flare during extended shooting sessions. The optical formula is designed to match the resolving power of the native lens so sharpness and clarity remain consistent across the frame. Fluorine coating on the outermost surfaces resists moisture and oil, making cleaning quicker when conditions change.

Dust and water resistant construction

Sealed construction protects the mount and optical path from dust and moisture during outdoor work. The fluorine-coated front and rear elements shed water droplets and fingerprints, reducing maintenance between shots.
