Optical stability during extended sessions

The 14-element, 9-group design uses three ED glass elements and Nano Crystal Coat to suppress chromatic aberration, ghosting and flare across the aperture range from f/1.4 to f/16. Internal focusing keeps the lens length constant, so balance on a tripod or gimbal does not shift during long shoots. The electromagnetic diaphragm provides consistent exposure control during continuous shooting, while the fluorine coat on the front element resists smudges that can accumulate over hours of handling.

Straightforward F-mount attachment

The lens mounts directly on any Nikon F-bayonet camera without an adapter. Autofocus is driven by a Silent Wave Motor with full-time manual override via the focus ring. Minimum focus distance is 3.30 feet, yielding 0.13x magnification. An 82 mm filter thread accepts screw-on filters; the large diameter may require a step-up ring for photographers using smaller filter systems. The nine-blade diaphragm produces rounded highlights at wider apertures.
