Copper Reducer for 1 x 3/4 Inch Tubing

This wrot copper reducer joins a 1-inch fitting end to a 3/4-inch copper tube end in plumbing and hydronic systems. It suits installers who need a permanent, soldered transition between two nominal sizes. The component meets ASME/ANSI B 16.22 for material and dimensional consistency. Buyers who require a press-fit or threaded transition cannot use this fitting.

Solder-Joint Installation and Common Issues

The FTG x C connection demands clean tube ends, flux and a propane or MAPP torch for a watertight solder joint. Overheating can anneal the copper and weaken the fitting, while insufficient heat leaves voids that leak under pressure. Debris or oxidation on the 1-1/8 inch and 7/8 inch outside diameters is the most frequent cause of joint failure. The fitting has no threads, gaskets or mechanical seals to fall back on.

Pressure and Temperature Behaviour

Rated for 494 psi at 100 degrees F, the reducer handles sustained hydronic pressure well within its design envelope. Continuous exposure up to 400 degrees F is supported, while the lower limit reaches -20 degrees F for freeze-prone lines. Copper’s thermal conductivity equalises temperature quickly, so the joint does not develop steep gradients during long heating cycles. The fitting contains no polymer or rubber elements that degrade over time.
