DIY Magnetic Mount System

This Nakedcellphone kit supplies two adhesive rings that let you build a custom MagSafe-compatible mount. The thin metal ring bonds to the back of a phone or case, while the black magnetic ring fixes to any smooth, flat surface. Together they create a quick-attach point for a phone or other small gadget. The set works with universal phone models and requires no tools to install.

Capacity and headroom

Each ring is designed to hold a typical smartphone securely on a vertical or horizontal surface. The magnetic bond handles normal handling and vibration but will release if the device is knocked sharply or pulled with force. Heavier accessories such as tablets or power banks exceed the practical holding limit and are not supported. Multiple kits can be combined to add mounting points in different rooms.

Practical limits of the adhesive bond

The rings rely on pressure-sensitive adhesive that needs a clean, non-porous surface such as glass, finished wood, metal or plastic. Rough, dusty, curved or fabric-covered areas will prevent a reliable bond and may cause the mount to detach over time. Extreme heat or direct sunlight can also degrade the adhesive, so outdoor or automotive use is not recommended.
