The Milwaukee Valve UP668 is a brass gate valve designed for water supply piping. Its 1-1/4 inch sweat connection suits copper tube installations where a full-port shut-off is required. The solid forged brass wedge and brass seats provide a durable seal for residential or light commercial plumbing. A non-rising brass stem with a screw-in bonnet keeps the handle height constant during operation.

Pressure and Installation Limits

Rated for a maximum operating pressure of 200 psi with water media, the valve is not rated for steam service. The sweat connection demands proper soldering technique and flux compatible with potable water systems. Because the stem does not rise, the wheel handle remains at a fixed height, which helps in tight cavities but prevents visual confirmation of gate position from the stem threads.

Flow Capacity and Service Range

A coefficient of volume (Cv) of 97 indicates high flow capacity with minimal pressure drop when the gate is fully open. The valve comfortably handles typical domestic cold and hot water distribution demands. It is not intended for throttling service; partial opening can erode the wedge and seat faces over time. Steam systems and pressures above the rated limit fall outside the design envelope.
