Practical limits of 10G RJ45 and SFP+

Copper 10G RJ45 links are distance-limited compared to fibre, so cable runs must stay within the standard reach for the chosen category cabling. SFP+ modules extend reach but require matching optics and patch cables at each end. The 1U form factor fits standard racks, yet total port density is fixed at twelve 10G interfaces; networks needing more density or different port mixes must add additional switches. No PoE capability is present, so attached devices need their own power.
