Practical Limits of the USB 2.0 Standard

The 480 Mbps ceiling applies to the bus itself, so aggregate bandwidth is shared among all devices on the same host controller. Type-B connectors are common on desktop peripherals but are not used on modern phones, tablets or slim laptops, so these cables cannot serve those devices.
