XT60-to-DC Adapter for Field Repairs

This adapter converts an XT60 battery output to a 5.5 mm by 2.1 mm DC plug so a TS100 soldering iron can run from a LiPo pack. It targets FPV pilots and RC hobbyists who need a quick way to power tools at the flying field without carrying a mains supply. The SC100 protocol handshake enables fast charging negotiation between the battery and the connected device. Compact and lightweight, it slips into a field-repair kit alongside spare props and batteries.

Build Integration and Power Flow

The female XT60 side mates with any standard XT60-equipped LiPo battery used in quadcopters, multirotors or fixed-wing models. On the other end the DC 5.5 x 2.1 mm male barrel feeds the TS100 iron directly, removing the need for a separate bench power supply or bulky inverter. Because the adapter passes through the battery’s native voltage, the iron heats up as soon as the pack is plugged in. No extra cables, voltage regulators or soldering are required to make the connection work.

Capacity Limits and Use-Case Boundaries

The adapter handles the current levels typical of TS100 operation from common 3S to 6S LiPo packs used in FPV drones. It is not suited for high-power loads such as large battery chargers or inverter circuits that would exceed the connector ratings. Users who need to run multiple irons simultaneously or power heavier bench equipment should look for a higher-current distribution board instead. The SC100 handshake works only with devices that support the protocol; simple resistive loads will not trigger fast-charging mode.
