mSATA to IDE 44-pin enclosure for 50 mm drives

This half-height 2.5-inch enclosure lets you install a 50 mm mSATA SSD into a notebook or laptop that uses a 44-pin IDE connector. The JM20330 bridge chip handles the SATA-to-IDE translation so the drive appears as a standard IDE device. It is intended for upgrading older systems that lack native SATA support. Builders working with M.2 NGFF or mini PCI-e drives cannot use this adapter.

Half-height metal case with voltage-select switch

The aluminium shell measures 70 mm by 60 mm by 9.5 mm and fits standard 2.5-inch drive bays. A physical switch on the PCB selects between 5 V and 3.3 V input; the correct position must match the voltage printed on the SSD label to avoid damage. The 44-pin IDE connector aligns directly with the host socket, requiring no extra cables or brackets for installation.

Passive cooling with no added power draw

The bridge chip and voltage regulator are cooled by the metal case alone, so the enclosure adds no fan noise. Power consumption is limited to the SSD itself plus the small overhead of the JM20330 controller. In normal use the assembly runs at the drive's rated temperature without increasing system thermals or requiring a larger power supply.
