Compatibility & Purpose

The Logitech 914-000051 Crayon is a digital pencil built with Apple Pencil technology for select iPad models from 2018 onward. It supports iPadOS 12.2 and above, including iPadOS 14 Scribble for text entry, and works with any app that supports Apple Pencil. The stylus offers tilt capability for broader strokes and virtually zero perceptible lag, making it suited for note-taking, sketching and annotation on compatible tablets. It does not support pressure sensitivity, so artists who need variable line weight from pressure should look elsewhere.

Build & Daily Use

An aluminum tube with a silicone rubber cap gives the Crayon a solid feel and 4-foot drop protection. Palm rejection is handled by the iPad, letting you rest your hand naturally while writing or drawing. Pairing is instant with no Bluetooth menu required, and the replaceable stylus tip can be swapped when worn or damaged. A built-in lithium battery provides up to 7.5 hours of active use, and a Lightning cable delivers up to 30 minutes of runtime from a two-minute charge.

Interface Limits

The Crayon communicates using Apple Pencil protocol, so it functions only with the iPad models listed in the specifications — iPad Pro 12.9-inch third to fifth generation, 11-inch first to third generation, iPad sixth to ninth generation, iPad Air third and fourth generation, and iPad mini fifth generation. It requires iPadOS 12.2 or later and will not work with earlier iPads, iPhones or non-Apple tablets. Pressure sensitivity is absent, and all advanced features depend on app-level Apple Pencil support.
