Versatile Camera Support System

The LensCoat LensSack Pro Jr is a "U" shaped bean bag designed to stabilise cameras with lenses up to 500mm on uneven ground, railings, vehicle doors or slick surfaces. It ships unfilled so you can customise weight and balance with your preferred media such as sunflower seeds. A detachable aircraft-grade aluminium mounting plate with a 3/8"-16 screw lets you attach a gimbal or ball head quickly. Removing the plate converts the sack into a simple, flat support platform for low-angle work.

Practical Limits of the Bean Bag Approach

Stability depends entirely on the fill material you choose and the surface you rest it on, so results vary between sand, seeds or beans. The 500mm lens capacity marks the upper end of comfortable support; heavier telephoto combinations may exceed the platform's ability to damp vibration. Because the sack arrives empty, you must source and carry fill separately, adding preparation time before a shoot. No locking mechanism secures the camera to the bag itself, only the mounting plate screw.

Build Quality and Daily Use

Heavy-duty water-resistant Cordura fabric and locking zippers protect the fill from spills and weather during outdoor sessions. The empty sack weighs 16 ounces and packs flat, making it easy to stow in a gear bag for travel. Detaching the aluminium plate is tool-free, allowing rapid switching between headed and headless configurations in the field. The Digital Camo pattern reduces visual conspicuousness for wildlife and tactical photography.
