8 Gauge Amp Kit for 800 W Systems

This wiring kit supplies power and signal cables for car audio amplifiers rated up to 800 watts. It includes 20 feet of 8 AWG CCA power cable, 3 feet of 8 AWG CCA ground cable, 20 feet of 16 AWG CCA speaker cable and 17 feet of twisted OFC RCA cable. An 18 AWG turn-on lead, ANL fuse holder with 60 amp fuse and assorted terminals complete the package. The kit is designed for universal fitment in typical vehicle installations.

Limits of 8 AWG CCA Conductors

Eight-gauge copper-clad aluminium cable carries less current than the same gauge in pure copper, so voltage drop becomes noticeable on longer runs or at sustained high output. The included 60 amp fuse caps the continuous current the kit can safely pass, which restricts the practical ceiling below the advertised 800 watt peak figure. Builders planning extended cable routes or multiple amplifiers should verify that the combined draw stays within the fuse rating and the conductor’s safe ampacity.

Headroom for Single-Amp Builds

The kit comfortably handles a single amplifier installation where total RMS power stays within the 60 amp fuse limit and cable lengths remain near the supplied 20 foot power run. It runs out of headroom when a second amplifier is added, when the power cable must be extended well beyond 20 feet or when the system demands continuous current above the fuse rating. In those scenarios a larger gauge kit or additional distribution blocks become necessary.
