U.3 to M.2 NVMe Adapter
This adapter converts an M.2 NVMe solid-state drive to a U.3 SFF-8639 interface. It supports PCIe Gen4 signalling at 16 GT/s and accepts 22x80mm M.2 modules. The board is designed and manufactured in Taiwan by Innocard.
Sustained Power Delivery
A synchronous buck converter steps 12 V down to 3.3 V with a 5.5 A continuous rating and a programmable 6.5 A limit. Protection circuits include over-current, under-voltage lockout, over/under-voltage, thermal shutdown and output discharge control. Hot-plug power uses an eFuse and 400 W TVS diode for transient suppression.
Host Compatibility Checks
Verify that your backplane or enclosure provides a U.3 SFF-8639 bay wired to PCIe Gen4 lanes. Confirm the slot can supply 12 V power and that the mechanical latch matches the SFF-8639 form factor. Ensure the host BIOS or operating system recognises NVMe devices behind a U.3 connector.

Questions about this item
How much heat and power does the 12V-to-3.3V buck converter generate when the adapter runs continuously?
The built-in synchronous buck converter delivers up to 5.5 A at 3.3 V with over-current, under-voltage and thermal-shutdown protection to limit heat during all-day operation.
What host connector and slot key must my system already provide for this U.3 adapter to work?
You need a U.3 (SFF-8639) backplane or cable that supplies a 12 V rail and the SFF-9402 Rev1.1 pin-out; the adapter plugs directly into that connector.
Will a legacy M.2 NVMe SSD that only supports 3.3 V signalling work reliably with the 1.8 V translators on this board?
Yes, the on-board voltage-level translators handle PERST#, CLKREQ# and WAKE# at both 3.3 V and 1.8 V, so older 3.3 V-only drives remain compatible.
