SlimSAS 4i to M.2 NVMe adapter

This gender changer converts a SlimSAS 4i (SFF-8654) interface to an M.2 NVMe 22x110mm slot. It enables connection of an NVMe solid-state drive to a system or backplane equipped with the SFF-8654 connector. The adapter suits integrators adding high-speed storage to compatible server or workstation platforms. It is not for users needing a direct PCIe card edge or U.2 connection.

PCIe Gen4 changer with auxiliary power

Built to the SFF-9402 Rev 1.1 pin-out, the board includes a PCIe 2x3 auxiliary power connector accepting 12 V at 6.5 A maximum input. An on-board 12 V to 3.3 V PWM buck converter delivers up to 5.5 A to the drive. A 3.3 V hotswap controller with programmable inrush slew rate supports hot-plug insertion. TVS diodes rated at 400 W, a 30 V NexFET MOSFET and a Schottky barrier rectifier protect the 3.3 V rails. The design omits a bracket, so mechanical retention depends on the host connector and drive screw.

Protected power delivery for stable operation

Overcurrent, under-voltage and over-voltage protection circuits guard the M.2 device during power transitions. Thermal shutdown activates if converter temperature exceeds safe limits. ESD human-body-model protection is rated to 500 V. Sideband signals including PERST#, CLKREQ#, WAKE# and PWRDIS are level-shifted between 3.3 V and 1.8 V as required. These features maintain signal integrity and drive safety under normal thermal and electrical loads.
