What the Mag 520 4K box does

The Infomir Mag 520 is a Linux-based media player built around an Amlogic S905X2 quad-core processor. It decodes 4K 2160p content at up to 60 frames per second with HEVC and HDR support. Dolby Digital Plus audio is handled natively. The unit ships with 1 GB RAM and 4 GB eMMC storage, plus a dual-band Wi-Fi module rated at 550 Mbps and a 300 Mbps external antenna.

Check your TV and network before ordering

Your display must accept a 4K 60 Hz signal and pass through Dolby Digital Plus for full benefit. A free USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 port is needed if you plan to attach external storage. The built-in dual-band Wi-Fi operates on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands; verify your router broadcasts on at least one of those. An Ethernet cable is not included, so have one ready if you prefer wired connectivity.

Build and daily connections

The compact black chassis measures 5 by 2 by 5 and sits unobtrusively near the screen. An IR remote control is supplied for navigation. Front and rear USB ports allow quick access for flash drives or peripherals without reaching behind the TV. The external Wi-Fi antenna screws onto a dedicated connector for flexible positioning. Fanless operation keeps the device silent during playback.
