Industrial proximity sensing

The IFM IGS213 is an inductive cylindrical proximity sensor designed for factory automation and machinery monitoring. It detects metal targets at a maximum range of 12 mm using an unshielded 18 mm sensing face. The unit operates on a 10 to 30V DC supply with a 3 wire PNP output circuit. Its IP67 rated brass housing with white bronze coating withstands temperatures from -13 to 158 degrees F.

Integration requirements

The sensor connects via a 4 pin M12 connector and requires a compatible DC power source within the stated voltage range. A switching frequency of 300 Hz supports medium speed detection tasks on conveyors or positioning systems. The normally open output delivers up to 100mA load current directly to a PLC input or relay coil. Its 70 mm overall length fits standard mounting brackets for 18 mm barrel sensors.

Suitability notes

This device suits engineers needing reliable non contact metal detection in wet or dusty environments thanks to the IP67 seal. It is not for applications requiring detection of non metallic materials such as plastic or liquid.
