Two-Gang Masonry Box

The RACO 696 is a two-gang masonry electrical box built for new installations in concrete block walls. Its 45 cu. in. capacity gives installers extra working room for conductors and devices. Welded steel construction keeps the box rigid during the pour so it does not collapse or shift. Sixteen concentric knockouts accept both 1/2 in. and 3/4 in. conduit without extra adapters.

Replaces Single-Gang Or Shallow Boxes

Builders move to this box when a single-gang unit cannot hold the required wire fill or when a 2-1/2 in. deep box leaves too little space for splices. The 3-1/2 in. depth and larger volume make the jump worthwhile on circuits with multiple cables or heavier devices. Tapped 6-32 device ears are set inside the box to keep mortar out of the mounting holes. A steel voltage partition is available separately for mixed-voltage runs.

Holds Shape Under Mortar Pressure

The welded frame resists deformation when heavy mortar is packed around it during block laying. Concentric knockouts stay aligned so conduit entries line up cleanly after the wall sets. Standard device spacing means common wall plates fit without adjustment once the finish coat is applied. The box is rated for 6, 8, and 10 in. block walls and ships new in galvanized zinc finish.
