RETRO-RING for life safety devices

The RACO 205RAC RETRO-RING is a four-inch square electrical box designed for old-work installations. It supports life safety devices in walls or ceilings ranging from three-eighths to one and a half inches thick. Steel old-work wings secure the box and mounted devices firmly in place. Each carton includes a wall template to simplify accurate cut-outs.

Replaces standard boxes in finished walls

This RETRO-RING upgrades from standard new-work boxes when running cable through closed cavities. The jump is worth it when installing alarm devices in existing drywall or plaster without removing large sections. Mounting holes are specific to alarm devices, so the ring fits most popular life-safety covers. It eliminates the need for a full box replacement in retrofit scenarios.

Handles alarm devices in shallow cavities

The ring comfortably accommodates standard life safety devices within its compact footprint. Steel wings provide reliable holding power in the specified wall-thickness range. It runs out when the cavity falls outside the three-eighths to one-and-a-half-inch window or when a device requires a different mounting pattern. No other device types are supported by the hole layout.
