RACO 1432 Set-Screw Coupling

The RACO 1432 is a zinc-plated steel coupling designed to join unthreaded EMT, IMC or RMC conduit with a 1/2 in trade size. It uses a set-screw connection that tightens directly onto the conduit wall without threads. The coupling is UL Listed to UL 514B and finished in gray for corrosion resistance. Electrical contractors and maintenance crews use it for straight-run conduit connections in commercial and industrial wiring.

Set-Screw Connection Limits

The set-screw method relies on screw pressure against smooth conduit, so it is only approved for unthreaded EMT, IMC and RMC of the matching 1/2 in trade size. It cannot be used with threaded rigid conduit, flexible metal conduit or non-metallic raceways. The coupling provides a straight, inline joint and does not accommodate bends or offsets. UL 514B listing covers the fitting itself, not the completed installation.

Verify Conduit and Space Before Ordering

Confirm that the conduit on site is unthreaded EMT, IMC or RMC with a 1/2 in trade size and an outside diameter near 0.85 in so the set screws can engage. The coupling measures 2 3/8 in overall length and 27/32 in in both height and width, so check that the surrounding enclosure or structure allows that clearance. Ensure local code accepts set-screw couplings for the intended environment and wiring method.
