The Juniper MX960 is a 3D Universal Edge Router built on the Trio chipset and Junos OS. It targets service providers who need a high-density platform for advanced routing, switching and security services. The chassis delivers the scale required for high-speed transport, VPN and multiplay broadband applications.

Modular chassis with hardware redundancy

The 14-slot frame accepts up to 12 DPCs or MPCs plus six FPCs and two Switch Control Boards. Redundant power supplies, fan trays, Routing Engines and SCBs are supported to increase system availability. The rack-mountable form factor fits standard data-centre racks while freeing operators from single-point-of-failure concerns.

12 line-card capacity

With twelve line-card slots the MX960 comfortably handles high-volume internetworking and next-generation broadband loads. Dual Switch Control Boards and Routing Engines provide control-plane headroom for service scaling. The chassis reaches its physical slot limit at 14, so deployments needing more line cards or fabric capacity must step to a larger platform.
