Integrates directly into the switch chassis

The module slides into the single expansion slot on the 2930M 24 Smart Rate POE+ chassis, requiring no external cabling or power adapters. Once seated, it frees all front-panel Ethernet ports for end-device connectivity while the stacking links operate independently. Installation is a cold-plug operation; the switch must be powered down before insertion. No additional transceivers or fibres are needed for the stacking links themselves.

Two stack ports set the scaling limit

With exactly two stack ports, the module supports a stacking topology that connects a limited number of switches in a ring or chain. Each port handles the full stacking bandwidth, so the pair provides redundant paths when cabled in a ring. The two-port design means the stack cannot grow beyond the port count without adding more modules, which the 2930M chassis does not accommodate. Environments needing larger stacks must plan around this hard port limit.
