Hoya 62mm W12 Umber Warming Color Conversion Filter

Designed for tungsten film in daylight

This 62mm warming filter is built for photographers shooting tungsten-balanced film such as CineStill 800T outdoors. It adds a rich amber tone by shifting colour temperature 2200 K with a +120 mired correction. The W12 strength exceeds the W10 for a more neutral result on standard tungsten emulsions. Six layers of HMC multi-coating minimise reflection, flare and ghosting on modern lenses.

Fixed optical correction with no electronic control

The filter provides a single, permanent 2200 K shift equivalent to an 85B filter. It cannot be adjusted, stacked electronically or tuned per scene. Photographers needing variable colour correction or digital white-balance flexibility will find this glass filter limiting. The effect is baked into the exposure at the moment of capture.

Replaces weaker warming filters or digital fixes

It upgrades from a W10 or lesser amber filter when a stronger 120 mired shift is required for true daylight-to-tungsten conversion. The jump is worth it when shooting CineStill 800T or similar stocks in 5500 K ambient light, including flash or strobe. It is not for photographers who prefer to correct colour temperature in post-processing or who shoot daylight-balanced film.
