RocketU 1244A four-port USB 3.2 controller

The RocketU 1244A is a PCIe 3.0 x8 host controller that adds four independent USB 3.2 10Gb/s Type-A ports to a desktop or workstation. Each port is driven by its own dedicated controller chip, so connected storage or capture devices can run at full speed without sharing bandwidth. The card targets professionals who need reliable, high-throughput USB connectivity for data acquisition, media offload or peripheral arrays. It works natively under Windows, Linux and macOS without extra driver installation.

PCIe 3.0 x8 host interface and port layout

The card plugs into an x8 or wider PCIe 3.0 slot and presents four USB Type-A connectors on a low-profile bracket measuring 3.79" by 4.09". Because every port has a discrete 10Gb/s controller behind it, plugging multiple high-speed drives or cameras does not create contention on the host bus. The design is backwards compatible with USB 3.1, 3.0 and 2.0 devices, and supports UASP and xHCI for efficient protocol handling. No external power cables are required for the controller itself.

Thermals noise and power in normal use

The board draws power solely from the PCIe slot and runs passively cooled, so it adds no fan noise to the system. With a typical workload spread across the four ports the aggregate throughput can reach 4000 MB/s while the card remains within standard slot power limits. Heat output is low enough that airflow from adjacent components is usually sufficient. The unit weighs 0.44 lb, placing minimal stress on the motherboard retention mechanism.
