Adds eight M.2 slots over a single PCIe 3.0 x16 lane with a Broadcom switch giving each drive dedicated x4 bandwidth
The HighPoint R1108 adds eight M.2 slots through a single PCIe 3.0 x16 connection. A Broadcom switch allocates a dedicated PCIe x4 lane to every slot. Native NVMe drivers in Windows 10 or later, Linux kernel 3.10 or later, macOS 10.13 or later and FreeBSD 12.1 or later mean no extra software is required. Builders who need more than eight drives or a PCIe 4.0 interface cannot use this card.
An aluminium casing with integrated thermal pads and a low-noise fan keeps the controller within its 5 °C to 35 °C operating window. Typical draw is 17.72 W from the slot's 12 V and 3.3 V rails. The fan runs quietly under normal workloads. Systems without a free x16 slot or with restricted airflow may run hotter than specified.
The aluminium heatsink, thermal pads and fan are factory-fitted so no separate cooling kit is needed. In-box NVMe drivers cover all listed operating systems including Apple M1 platforms. No RAID management suite or mounting brackets are bundled. Users who want hardware RAID features or alternative mounting hardware must source them separately.

Insert the card into any standard PCIe 3.0 x16 slot; the onboard Broadcom switch allocates a dedicated x4 lane to each of the eight M.2 ports without requiring BIOS bifurcation support.
Periodically clean dust from the fan intake and exhaust vents to maintain airflow across the thermal pad; the fan is the only moving part and runs at low noise under normal loads.
The rated operating range tops out at 35 °C; prolonged use above this temperature may trigger thermal throttling or instability.
