82 mm Circular Polarizer

The Haida Greystone CPL filter fits 82 mm lens threads and uses a rotatable ring to control polarization intensity. It is built from optical glass in an aluminum-alloy frame and is intended for photographers who want to cut glare and boost colour saturation in outdoor scenes. The 10-layer anti-reflection coating reduces internal ghosting and helps the glass stay cleaner longer.

Polarization Control Limits

Rotating the ring adjusts how much reflected light is blocked, but the effect varies with the angle to the sun and cannot remove reflections from metallic surfaces. The filter only works with lenses that have an 82 mm front thread, and stacking additional filters on the 72 mm front thread may introduce vignetting on wide-angle lenses. The coating resists water and smudges yet does not eliminate the need for occasional cleaning.

Upgrade from Basic or Uncoated Filters

This model replaces single-coated or uncoated polarizers that flare easily and show ghosting in high-contrast light. The 10-layer coating and slim aluminum ring make the jump worthwhile for shooters who regularly photograph skies, water or foliage and need consistent colour fidelity. Photographers using lenses with smaller thread sizes or those who require variable ND functionality will need a different solution.
