72 mm Light-Pollution Filter

The Haida 72mm NanoPro Clear-Night filter is a light-pollution and starscape filter designed for astrophotographers and night-sky enthusiasts. It threads onto 72 mm lens fronts of camcorders, digital cameras and film cameras to suppress yellow sodium-vapor glow from urban lighting. The nano multi-coating on optical glass maximises transmission while cutting reflections so star colours remain true.

Thread Mount Limits Vignetting Control

The slim-profile ring avoids vignetting with wide-angle lenses, but the 72 mm thread diameter fixes compatibility to lenses sharing that exact filter size. Step-up or step-down rings can bridge other diameters yet add thickness that may reintroduce corner shading on ultra-wide optics. The filter has no electronic contacts, so it cannot communicate with camera metering or autofocus systems.

Single-Band Suppression Headroom

The coating targets the sodium D-line region, so it comfortably handles typical street-light pollution and airglow in that band. It does not attenuate broadband LED spill or other wavelengths, so heavily lit city centres may still require additional exposure management. The filter adds no optical power, leaving focus and infinity stops unchanged.
