The Greenfield Threading 328190 is a straight-flute hand tap designed to cut M3x0.5 metric threads in through-holes or blind holes. It suits maintenance technicians, model engineers and hobbyists who need to create or repair fine-pitch threads by hand. The bright uncoated high-speed steel body works well in low-alloy steels, aluminium and plastics where coolant can be applied. It is not intended for high-volume CNC tapping or for materials that demand coated geometry.

Plug chamfer with 7.87 mm thread length

The plug-style lead gives a moderate chamfer that starts easily in a pre-drilled 2.50 mm hole and produces a 75 percent thread depth. The 7.87 mm thread length provides enough engagement for typical fastener lengths while leaving clearance at the bottom of a blind hole. The D3 limit targets a 6H class of fit, so the finished thread meets standard metric tolerances. Very deep holes or high-torque assemblies may exceed the practical reach of this tap.

Hand operation keeps heat and noise low

Because the tap is driven manually, cutting temperatures stay near ambient and there is no motor noise or electrical draw to manage. Chip evacuation relies on the straight flutes and periodic reversal, so lubrication and steady pressure prevent loading.
