The ScanSnap S1500 is a sheet-fed document scanner built for home offices and small businesses that need to digitise paper archives quickly. Its CCD sensor captures 600 x 600 dpi optical resolution across colour and monochrome pages at 20 ppm. A 50-sheet automatic document feeder handles A4, A5, A6, B5, B6, Letter, Legal and custom sizes down to 2" x 2". Thermals noise and power

The unit operates on 110 V AC or 220 V AC mains power without an external brick, so desk wiring stays simple. In normal scanning the mechanism runs quietly enough for open-plan workspaces and the chassis remains cool to the touch. Intelligent paper feed detection reduces multi-feeds, limiting re-scans that would otherwise increase run time and energy use. No active cooling fan is present, so acoustic output stays low during typical batch jobs.

Sustained load behaviour

Feeding the full 50-sheet ADF capacity at 20 ppm keeps the transport rollers and CCD active for several minutes without throttle or error rate increase. The straight paper path and multi-feed detection maintain consistent throughput on mixed media such as plain paper and business cards. Software-driven image processing runs on the host PC, so scanner hardware temperature and speed remain stable regardless of file format or OCR workload. Not suited for buyers who need network scanning, duplex scanning in a single pass, or capacities beyond 50 sheets.
