The Freewell 82mm Threaded Hard Stop Variable ND Bright Day Filter is built for photographers and filmmakers who need precise exposure control in intense sunlight. Its 6 to 9 stop range, equivalent to ND64-ND512, lets you maintain creative aperture and shutter choices when light is overwhelming. The hard-stop mechanism prevents cross-polarization artefacts throughout the entire rotation. It suits any lens with an 82mm front thread and a focal length of 16mm or wider.

6 to 9 stop range for extreme light

The filter comfortably handles normal sunny days through to the brightest conditions, providing the density needed for motion blur or shallow depth of field without overexposure. At the darker end of the range it approaches the limits of variable ND practicality; scenes darker than the ND64 equivalent will require a lighter filter or no filter at all. The 18-layer multi-coating on Pure High Definition Optical glass preserves colour fidelity and contrast across the full sweep.
