Single-drive USB-C adapter for NVMe and SATA

This Fervit cable connects one M.2 NVMe, M.2 SATA, 2.5-inch SATA or 3.5-inch SATA drive to a USB-C or USB-A port. It accepts M.2 2242, 2260 and 2280 modules with M-key or B+M-key pinouts. Only one installed drive is active at a time; if both M.2 and SATA are fitted the SATA drive takes priority. Drives and 12 V power for 3.5-inch units are not included.

Check drive type and host port before ordering

The adapter does not support M.2 PCIe AHCI SSDs, mSATA modules, WiFi cards, capture cards or non-M.2 form factors. NVMe drives require a host port capable of 10 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2 or faster for full speed; SATA drives operate at 5 Gbps. A separate 12 V DC supply is mandatory for any 3.5-inch SATA drive. Hot-plugging is not supported, so power down before swapping drives.

Sustained transfers limited by single-drive design

Because only one drive operates at a time, there is no concurrent I/O contention between slots. NVMe throughput holds at the host controller’s 10 Gbps ceiling during long reads or writes, while SATA devices saturate at 5 Gbps. Thermal throttling depends on the bare drive’s own dissipation, as the open PCBA provides no active cooling. Performance remains steady for the duration of a single-drive workload.
