This adapter connects a 2.5-inch SATA drive to a host with a Micro USB 3.0 port. It suits users who need to access data from a bare drive without installing it inside a chassis. The 22-pin 7+15 connector mates directly with the drive’s combined data and power interface. No external power supply is required for typical solid-state or low-draw mechanical drives.

Sustained transfer behaviour

The Super-Speed USB 3.0 interface supports a maximum transfer rate of 5Gb/sec. Real-world throughput will settle below this ceiling once the drive’s own sequential limits or thermal throttling take effect. Backward compatibility with USB 2.0, 1.1 and 1.0 ports allows the adapter to function on older hosts, though at the slower bus speeds those ports provide. SATA 1.5Gb/s drives are also supported.

Build and daily use

Compliance with Serial ATA Specification Revision 3.0 ensures the connector and signalling meet the current SATA standard. Hot-swapping and plug-and-play support let users attach or remove drives without rebooting the host system.
