USB 2.0 analogue capture for legacy sources

The DigitNow! BR116 is a USB 2.0 video capture adapter that connects a PC to composite or S-Video devices such as VHS, VCR, DVD players or camcorders. It digitises NTSC or PAL footage at 720 x 480 pixels at 30 fps or 720 x 576 pixels at 25 fps. The device includes stereo RCA audio inputs and 256 MB of onboard RAM for buffering. It targets users archiving analogue tapes to digital files.

Passive thermals and bus-powered operation

The adapter draws power directly from a compliant USB 2.0 port and has no active cooling, so it runs silently. Its small 1 x 3 x .5 inch enclosure stays cool during typical capture sessions. Audio is captured without requiring a separate sound card. The unit weighs 2.88 ounces and installs with plug-and-play drivers on Windows XP through 10 and Mac OS 10.15.

Steady capture under continuous recording

During long recordings the device maintains the stated frame rates and resolution without dropping frames, provided the host system meets the USB 2.0 bandwidth requirement. Brightness, contrast, hue and saturation controls remain adjustable in software such as OBS Studio, PotPlayer or QuickTime Player throughout the session. No thermal throttling occurs because the hardware has no active thermal management to trigger.
