DELL
Dual 12-core Xeon 2U rack server with 256GB DDR4, H730 RAID controller, dual 800GB SATA SSDs and quad-port 1/10GbE networking
The Dell PowerEdge R730xd packs dual Xeon E5-2680 v3 processors with 24 total cores into a 2U rack form factor. 256 GB of DDR4 ECC memory and a PERC H730 RAID controller support database, virtualisation and HPC data-node roles. Twenty-four 2.5-inch drive bays give dense local capacity for mixed workloads.
Two 750 W platinum-efficiency power supplies share the load and provide hot-swap redundancy for continuous operation. The 2U chassis directs front-to-rear airflow across both CPUs, memory and the 24-bay backplane. iDRAC 8 Enterprise enables remote thermal monitoring and power management without host OS involvement.
An Intel X520/I350 daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ ports for flexible fabric connectivity. Ready Rails and a front bezel ship with the unit for immediate rack integration. The PERC H730 battery-backed cache protects in-flight writes across RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 arrays.

Other versions of this model
Same family, different memory, cooler or clock — compare before you commit.
Slide the server into the rack using the included Ready Rails, connect both 750-watt platinum power supplies, then configure RAID on the PERC H730 controller before the operating system sees the 800GB SSDs; the step most people skip is initializing the virtual disk in the controller BIOS.
The H730's 1GB cache battery should be replaced every three to five years to preserve write-back caching, and the two 800GB SATA SSDs should be monitored via SMART for wear-leveling thresholds and replaced when the media-wear indicator approaches end of life.
The dual 750-watt platinum power supplies and the 2U chassis airflow set the practical ceiling; sustained 3.3GHz turbo on all 24 cores will hit the power budget or inlet-temperature threshold before the processors reach their maximum junction temperature.
